Launching in 2025, the Designed in Ireland range of heritage wallpapers will be available for sale to the global market through our online shop.
A percentage of the proceeds for each sale will go to the ‘A Stitch in Time’ fundraising progamme for the preservation of Sybil Connolly Collection in The Hunt Museum, Ireland.
The Cottage Orné Collection
The ‘Cottage Orné’ collection was designed by Sybil for the interior of the The Swiss Cottage, Cahir, County Tipperary.
It has been reproduced with permissions from The Hunt Museum Limerick, in whose historic Custom House building The Sybil Connolly Collection resides.
After some years of neglect, restoration of The Swiss Cottage started in 1985. The restoration was overseen by a partnership of the Irish Georgian Society, the Port Royal Foundation and Sybil Connolly. The Swiss cottage opened to the public as a historic house museum in 1989.
Sybil Connolly
Born in 1921, this pioneering entrepreneur created the first international Irish haute couture fashion and design house.
Connolly’s US clients included Rockefellers, Du Ponts and Mellons in addition to screen stars Merle Oberon, Grace Kelly, Julie Andrews and Elizabeth Taylor.
Jacqueline Kennedy was also an ardent supporter; she chose a pleated linen dress for her official White House portrait.
Moving into the interiors market later in her career, Sybil designed table wear, fabric and wallpaper. Notable Irish clients included Lady Sheila Dunsaney of Dunsaney Castle and Lady Beit of Russborough House.
